Day 23

I got a little behind again but managed to catch up today. And, I finally braved the oil paints. I LOVE them! I know I have a lot to learn but I think me and the oils may just turn out to be buds! I instantly felt like here was a medium I was going to get along with. Fingers crossed xx

Concentrated Awesome!

Little Paige thinks she is NOT small, she is concentrated awesome!

I'm Awesome! - Big Eyed Girl - Original Mixed Media Art Painting by Deborah Jackson Hall
Concentrated Awesome by Deborah Jackson

Little Paige just hated being called 'Little'. Arrgggh  it drove her crazy! She had been the smallest all her life. Everyone told her that one day she would 'shoot up' and be as tall as all her friends. She used to wish and wish that day would come. Now, she reasoned, she was perfect just the way she was. When people called her small, she would politely correct their error and tell them, 'I'm Not Small. I'm concentrated Awesome!'

Living In The Moment

Hey lovlies! I can't believe it is so long since my last post! Where has this time gone?

Oh, My Word!!

Life is moving way too fast for me to keep up. My lovely daughter is about to leave school this week. I look at what a wonderful young lady she has become and think where is the curious little girlie that ran into nursery not a care in the world leaving me in floods of tears because she ran into school with not a care in the world hehe! Where has the time gone?

More and more, it is becoming apparent to me that I need to live more in the moment and take stock of the here and now. If you remember, my father in law passed away recently. Very suddenly and without warning. I think this was the start of me really noticing the time whizzing by and me not being able to keep up.

By striving to live more in the moment, I am hoping to be able to slow some things down and appreciate much more the wonderful things in my life (before they all up and leave without a care in the world!)

I have been doing a lot of sketching recently. I have loved the quiet, focused, time-slowing time and being able to play and create new girlies. Here are some of my favourites that I am intending on making into paintings over the next few weeks.

This little girlie has already become my latest painting. I think her eyes are probably the biggest and most hopeful I have drawn.

Owl Was Somewhat Concerned (but she knew everything would be okay).

I am going to love and leave you with a fabulous piccie sent to me be the equally fabulous Stacy. She recently gave one of my Googley Eyed Girls a new home. When I listed her 'sister' on Etsy, she took a picture of them both together. It really made me smile. Thanks lovely Stacy xx

Have a lovely week! xx

Whoa! Googley Eyed Girlies

Hello lovely friends!

Firstly, thank you all for your lovely and thoughtful messages of support and condolence regarding our loss of 'Big Ron'. They have really touched me and so I appreciate all of them.

Again, this week, I have thrown myself into making art and have been experimenting a little with colour. I wrote a while ago about me taking part in Life Book with Tamara Laporte and lots of other amazing artists. One of the reasons I was so excited about joining in with Life Book was the inclusion of Mindy Lacefield as one of the new teachers. I so love her style and particularly her use of colour and I was keenly awaiting her lesson. And, it didn't disappoint - she is such a wonderful and inspiring artist and teacher.

So, inspired by Mindy, I got some neon acrylic paints and incorporated them into some new paintings I have been working on.

Whoa! Look At Me!

Mila is a googley eyed girl that was inspired by my tricksy girl in my painting 'It Wasn't Me'. You may remember I wrote about sketching her out during a recent yucky spell I was having but the right idea for incorporating her into a painting hadn't come to me until recently. I am so pleased with how she turned out. She definitely makes me a happy bunny, hehe!

Googley Eyed Eva

Eva couldn't believe her eyes! What she saw made her eyes even more googley than usual! (I wonder what it is she has seen?? Hehe!!)

Love 'n' hugs and hope you are all well and happy!
